Fluoropolymer-based Chemistry is our Specialty

Our company manufactures, markets and sells fluoroproducts including Fluon® fluoropolymer resins, Fluon+™ enhanced fluorinated materials and compounds and AFLAS® fluoroelastomers. We also market and sell specialty chemicals including AsahiKlin and AMOLEA fluorinated solvents, LUMIFLON® FEVE resins, AsahiGuard E-SERIES and FibraLAST water and oil repellents, RESIFA SOLESPHERE™ fine silica additives, polyols for polyurethanes, CYTOP™ amorphous fluoropolymers and various fluoro intermediates for pharma and agro products.

Specialty materials offered are FORBLUE™ ion exchange membranes, Fluon® ETFE film and F-CLEAN® greenhouse films completing our wide array of product offerings for many uses and markets.

A worldwide network of product development, support and sustainability

AGC Chemicals Americas is headquartered in Exton, Pennsylvania, which includes a state-of-the-art technology center. We maintain manufacturing operations in nearby Thorndale, Pennsylvania, a satellite sales office in Guarantinguetá, Brazil and warehouses located throughout North America. We are always working to reduce environmental impact by supplying chemicals needed to make sustainable products.

1907
  • Asahi Glass Company established in Amagasaki, Hyogo Prefecture
1917
  • AGC Chemicals Company is established by in house production of soda ash, a key raw material for glass
  • Headquarters moved to Tokyo
1950’s-1960’s
  • Glass bulbs for television picture tubes began production
  • Automotive glass business launched
  • Established Chiba plant in Goi-machi, Ichihara City, Chiba Prefecture
  • Started caustic soda production using the ammonia method
1970’s
  • Developed AsahiGuard™ fluorinated oil and water repellents, Fluon® ETFE fluorinated resins and Flemion™ ion exchange membranes
  • Fused film molding technology with ETFE to develop Fluon® ETFE fluoropolymer film
  • Started the manufacture of AFLAS® fluoroelastomers and polyether polyols
1980’s
  • Established Asahi-ICI Fluoropolymers UK joint venture and began the manufacture of Fluon® PTFE resins
  • Began production of LUMIFLON® fluoropolymer resins for coatings
1990’s
  • Cytop™ transparent amorphous fluoropolymers were developed
  • Started production of AsahiKlin alternative fluorinated solvents
  • Developed PREMINOL™ and EXCESTAR™ polyols for polyurethanes
  • Established fluorinated pharma chem intermediates technology
  • Acquired ICI Fluoropolymers as a wholly owned subsidiary in the USA and UK
2000’s
  • AGC Chemicals Americas, Inc. is established
  • Developed AsahiGuard E-SERIES environmentally compliant oil and water repellents
  • Established a state-of-the-art technical center in Exton, PA
  • Unified group brand as AGC
2010’s
  • Established a sales base in Sao Paulo, Brazil
  • Launched the Fluon+™ global brand of enhanced material science solutions
  • Asahi Glass Company, Ltd. became AGC Inc. globally
2020’s
  • Started sales of Sureco™ anti-fingerprint coatings, AMOLEA™ refrigerants and foam blowing agents and FORBLUE™ membranes
  • AGC Chemicals expanded compounding operations for the Fluon+™ brand
  • AGC Chemicals Company increased fluoropolymer production to meet the rising global demand for high performance material science solutions
  • Started sales of AMOLEA™ HCFO solvents
  • Developed and patented FibraLAST™ non-fluorinated barrier technology for paper and textile products
